PolairDrill™

About

Liquid Solutions Inc. was established in 1998, after a long career as a Sales Director with a Canadian lubricant manufacturer. The President of Liquid Solutions Inc., Keith Klayh, was intrigued by the evolution of the lubricant industry towards MQL – Minimum Quantity Lubrication machining which demonstrated the ability of polar lubricants to achieve superior tool life and parts finishes using minute quantities of polar esters to replace traditional flood coolants in metalworking applications. The benefits of MQL for Health and Safety, along with positive environmental impact, led us to research the potential for polar lubrication in rock drill lubrication, which also utilizes minimum injection of lubricant into percussive drills at approximately 2 ppm.

Based on MQL research, Mr. Klayh formulated the patented polar rock drill oil called Pneuma-Tool, which offered positive benefits for mining operations.

Upon departing Pneuma-Tool, Mr. Klayh continued to research potential polar rock drill oil formulations to further advance the technology, resulting in the PolairDrill™ line of high performance polar rock drill lubricants.

Mr. Klayh was also a manufacturers contributor to the OSHA program:

These experiences enabled Liquid Solutions to develop formulations that are highly effective in terms of tool protection, as well as having a very safe Health and Safety profile.

Mr. Klayh also used his experience in the lubricant industry to develop a method of oily water remediation, forming a company called Oil Liminator, using high tech hyrocyclones to separate oil from water. The technology was transferred to a partner who markets the system into the maritime industry as a method to remove oily contaminants from
bilge water before discharge from ships.

Pneuma-Tool Inc. has been manufacturing and marketing its line of rock drill lubricants since 2010 when we developed a patented series of rock-drill lubricants that have been proven to solve most of the problems associated with air-tool lubrication.

Foremost among these issues was the elimination of oil fog (oil mist). Our lubricants help protect the functioning of miners’ lungs, eliminate slip / fall hazards, improve visibility so that miners can work more productively, reduce ventilation requirements at headings (ideal for shaft sinking, raise mining), and improve miners’ cleanliness and hygiene (no smell, no odour, no taste).
